Ok let's stick to the topic. This is getting way out of hand.

Jab, no offense, but you started the talk about how FIU was going to be so improved next year. Personally, I think they can recruit whomever they want, but it doesn't mean anything until I see them on the court. I say the same about FAU in Football. You have to see how the recruits do in the classroom. there is a lot more to a recruiting class. A top notch basketball school gets there by recruiting top classes year after year. Not one year, and everyone thinking that one good year changes everything.
Look at the Owls…we have improved so much and have a very exciting team, but we are still 14-14. We are miles away from being a top team. FIU has done nothing. Let them do something before we give them credit for anything.
I grew up on Indiana basketball. Isiah Thomas was a part of that. He is one of the greatest basketball players of all time. That means nothing to his situation currently. Let him prove something first. I am quite sure he would agree. I can say the same for us at FAU. Mike Jarvis is an awesome coach in my opinion, the best in FAU history; but he has done nothing yet at FAU other than give us a great product that we can be proud of, but nothing in terms of getting to the dance. He would also agree with this.
Just saying the basketball smack talk is ridculous. We debate whether someone has 900 or 1200 fans and who has a bigger arena that no one fills. My High School team used to put over 7000 fans in the stands every game and you could put both our arenas in my high school stadium. It's all relative. FIU basketball is a joke. Prove something.

I expect FIU to be much more competitive next season if Isiah Thompson sticks around and his recruits don't bail on him if he leaves.
Not to get off topic, but its been awfully quiet since that was floating around…….
I thought I saw Isiah at Home Depot buying packing boxes….
That guy is gone at the first opportunity
Yea, after the last 6 or 7 games all the teams in the belt are hoping he will leave.
Keep praying.
I don't follow FIU except for the Sunbelt scores posted on this board. I think you must be referring to close losses that have other Belt teams hoping Thomas will leave. I'm not sure where your logic is coming from. Don't you think winning those games would cause other Belt teams to think that? I don't think losing is going to concern other Sunbelt teams very much except to look forward to playing against FIU.

so far IT has shown that he can lure top quality players to consider FIU (a sunbelt school).
Agreed, and that will be good for the league if they take the court…
But, I'm still not sold on him being here for the long haul, and agree with others in that he will be out the door when the first "better" opportunity presents itself…he seems to have the "disease of I" but, hey, while he is here enjoy it…
Regardless, it is good for everyone when the competition goes up…we need a reason sway recruits from choosing schools in conferences with higher RPI's…

I'm gonna respect jab979 wishes and not take this any further, I'm sorry you got in trouble with your fellow alumni for your reasoned opinion on next season.
Good luck with your game tomorrow.

You nailed it!
He was on PTI this past week and although he had an FIU sign in the distance behind him during the interview, he never once mentioned FIU or Florida International. He stated: I enjoy it here at the college level. He never took advantage of being on national TV and promoting his team or school. That is Isiah. As stated earlier he was a part of Indiana basketball, but was the first Indiana player to leave early for the NBA. Isiah is about Isiah, and not FIU or any other place he will coach.

Jarvis would agree with what you mentioned in that post - fauowl. We have become a good team, still a long way from developing into a great team.
Fun to watch and clearly helps attracting fans & retaining support.
Jarvis has shown he can recruit and took a much different approach then his predecessors…shows that he is here to build a program from the ground up. This is still a very young team and players have room to grow…it depends on Jarvis & his staff's ability to get the players to the next level. I have all the confidence that will happen, based on this team progression during the course of the season.

fauowl…just some factual information, FWIW, on what took place at FIU during his TAPED INTERVIEW, to correct some erroneous assumption, just basing in what came across on ESPN. While it's true what was aired on PTI he didn't mention as much of FIU as it could, since they asked about Tiger Woods and the Knicks asw well (though it was aired when he did mention FIU has the #17 ranked recruiting class, and that FIU could be a top 25 team like Gonzaga), the truth is that ESPN cut his response to a follow up question on what factors he (Isiah) thought contributed in bringing the #17 recruiting class to FIU. In his response, Isiah went on to say a bunch of positive things about FIU the school, and not about him personally. Unfortunatley, ESPN, cut that part for the "good 5 minutes" they had available. So, yes, he "took advantage of being on national TV and promoting FIU…", they just cut some of it.
