Questions for Jarvis

Coach Jarvis will be joining me for the first half-hour of the FAU SportsPage tonight from the Duffy's in Deerfield on ESPN 760. Just like Pelini, we're opening it up for your questions tonight, so post them, send them to me at [email protected], or tweet them to @ESPN760. Go Owls!

Re: Questions for Jarvis

Q for Jarvis:

What is going on with Chris Bryant? Why has he not played so sparingly? I thought he was supposed to be the best recruit to ever walk the halls here.

Re: Questions for Jarvis

Jarvis,

Do you think your ego that you've haven't had for the last 40 years has any impact on Ray Taylor transferring? Probably the best point guard in the history of FAU.

Do you really expect a freshman to come in a run the point for a team the has like two returning players?

Empty promises. 1-3, should be 3-1 with all the suppose talent, or maybe its just a lack of coaching.

I'm 32 and getting tired of promises. Even the f'ing Knicks have turned it around before FAU has.

Are you saying Jarvis' ego was bigger than Ray's?  Possibly.  But Ray declared for the NBA Draft…and then instead of the NBA, he went to FIU.  If he was that great, why didn't he transfer to North Carolina, or Indiana, Kentucky, or Duke?

Because he wasn't that good after the first year.  Demanding to be played when you are not performing is about the most selfish act in basketball.

The Coach's ego has to win out over the player's every time.

Even Greg Gantt has stated (paraphrase–I don't have the exact quote):  The bad eggs are now gone.  That told me everything I needed to hear from a neutral party.

Re: Questions for Jarvis

I think there is a big difference between ego, and character.

Standing beside your character choices is demanding but not necessarily ego driven. Usually driven by moral fiber rather than self will and perception.

It's too early to pass judgement on this team.  However, if we have 10 losses before New Years,  I'd say you'll have many jump on your bandwagon.

Re: Questions for Jarvis

its not about passing judgement and its about some 18 year old kid. i don't want to get on some 18 year old kid who, its not his fault.

its every year Jarvis acts like this is the year. Not one person is asking to beat UNC but falling to in OT after being up so much? There's just no excuse for that when you've been her for so long and you talk about how great these players are. It gets old. This is nothing new.

I dunno. Jarvis always puts the losses on his players. If a player continues to perform poorly over the course of half a season, it's not because of poor coaching but rather it's always always because the player is "too selfish" or "not following through" or something.

There is certainly a possibility that USF is getting more (and will continue to get more) out of Kore White than FAU did. Maybe, just maybe, he somehow "woke up" in his last year over there but then again maybe its their coach and Jarvis just couldn't get it out of him here.

It's hard to say.
