If it happens to be Balado (spelling?) then I think most of these guys will stay.
Not enough experience…not gonna happen…
Considering what FAU pays the head coach I don't know if they have the luxury to look for more experience.
They will have to raise the bar…that's for sure…
I don't know Owl. Why didn't they do that after Rex's flirtation with Mercer?
we dont know for sure that they didnt in some way…but i agree with you…
one thing is CERTAIN…the 200k buyout is a thing of the past…they will assuredly go for a minimum of 500k one would suspect…
basically they have been caught twice now with thier pants down…

The obvious response would be that they don't have the resources. But, there are any number of reasons that this didn't happen.
Perhaps they didn't feel that they had to. He's a guy with 2 years of coaching experience, a sub .500 record, and that has had problems the past 2 years keeping its top players in the lineup because of a variety of issues. I'm sure they would have done more to keep him if he had been more successful.
OR
Maybe they could have offered him more, but felt that the extra money wouldn't matter and that he was looking to move on anyway.

and the best recruiting class int he conference coming in…and played for Roy Williams…and for Pat riley…and has 7 years in the league under his belt…and, well, do i need saymore…
Again:
PANTS WERE DOWN - to the ankles!
BUT:
i like your second possibility! That's probably how they should have looked at it after the last drama session he put everyone through…only to believe him, and have him turn around/on us like this…

Under what circumstances does a coach NOT get ripped by fans for leaving under his own terms?

Just a question:

Who's ripping? If the shoe fits, then wear it.
But to answer your "question":
When they act like a REAL MAN and keep their word - especially after this "act" just under three weeks ago:
Florida Atlantic University - Men's Basketball - Official Athletic Site
That's why. ;)
(by the way, he actually had the balls to pull this up from a year prior and REPOST it on the FRONT PAGE of his blog just after "deciding" to turn down Mercer)

So if Rex were to say after turning down Mercer that he's only back until a better opportunity presented itself you would be cool with that?

Ok, that's you, but if Rex would have come out and said that he's only here until a better job came along most fans would have run him out of here on a rail and you know it.
