REX GONE...AGAIN

Ok, that's you, but if Rex would have come out and said that he's only here until a better job came along most fans would have run him out of here on a rail and you know it.

Lol! If the world was only that simple. Let's focus Owl, if Rex would have told the TRUTH he would have been crushed and you know it. What would have happen to our recruits if he would have been TRUTHFULL? Come on brother.

USF and Mercer are both non-football schools. In other words, even though they may seem like lateral moves (at best), basketball is #1 at both places. Just like football gets most of the press, fans support, and resources here, it seems like the opportunity to be a similar-sized fish in a smaller pond was alluring. FAU is not a basketball school and will likely be a football-first school for the foreseeable future.

Yeah, both are "basketball schools", but that isn't what is behind this.  In my opinion, all of this is about Rex trying to reach his ultimate goal of coaching a major program.  Money is probably part of it, but not as much as climbing the ladder.  He was looking at Mercer because playing in the ASUN is an easier path to the NCAAs.  He is taking the USF job because he gets exposure on the West Coast.  He's already a known commodity on the East Coast and the Mid-West from his Kansas days.  Now he's out West.  If he has success there, he's a candidate for a Pac 10 job.  If his press conference at USF is Tuesday, he'll be looking at other coaching jobs on Wednesday.  I'd be shocked if he's still at USF for more than 2 or 3 years.

Now being confirmed by Sun-Sentinel:

San Francisco Gate:

USF Hires Rex Walters - SFGate

Palm Beach Post:

Funniest quote is from Eddie Sutton from the SF Gate story:

"Rex Walters? I thought perhaps they'd want someone from the West Coast to be able to recruit," said Sutton, who is back in his home in Stillwater, Okla.

Exactly, thank you…this is ALL ABOUT rex.

Not the kids…not the school…not the DONS.

It's ALL ABOUT rex.

Guys wanted to coach because they loved an istitution and the young men who came to play there…

"The Nowadays":

A robot stuck in the phrase "It's all about me…beep beep beep…It's all about me…beep beep beep"…

Careful grasshoppa'…

you are making the counter argument that the way to go in life is to lie…….

i think it has been proven time and again that aint gonna work:

See Matt DOH-erty for example. Btw, he is 7-25 in conference play since taking the job at SM-pew.

Re: REX GONE...AGAIN

I don't have a problem with coaches looking out for themselves.  There is nothing wrong with it.  I just don't like the fact that Rex strung FAU along since turning down the Mercer job.  It was obvious that he was looking for another job.  The fact that he even considered the Mercer job in the first place indicates that.  In fact, he probably turned down the Mercer job because he knew he could get a better offer by waiting until the Final Four, which is something of a convention for basketball coaches looking for work.  It seemed like he was intent on getting out all along.  It was just a matter of an acceptable offer coming along.  I think he went out to the Final Four hunting for a job.  That isn't fair to FAU or his players.

You still seem to be missing the point. This isn't a debate on the truth and if it's good or bad. What I've been saying for hours now is that if Rex were to tell truth he would have been run out of town. I don't understand why you refuse to understand that. Now I'm sure you've never lied before but I have to admit I have lied. I know, I know, I'm a terrible person and I'm sorry, but sometimes in life you can't always be truthfull. Again this isn't a perfect world.

No, i got your point loud and clear…i  just disagree…but i dont think you are a terrible person…

However, there are plenty of examples of what you are purporting and how it fails…

Show me one where my idea fails in the long run?  ;)

Here is a simple law…ponder this, and then maybe you will see exaclty where i am coming from…it's called the "law of the Harvest":

That is to say in essence that "You reap what you sew".

Plant apple seed, what do you get? Apples.

Use a portion of your check for savings, and what do you get?  Financial storm funds.

Now, sew some lies, what do you get back?

I'll give you a  hint - it aint truth.  And it aint a Blessing.

Another angle with same message:

Newton's Third Law

"For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction".

ok, im done now……. :)
