Rex Walters to USF (no, not that one)

You're on to something here.  If the player/recruit time can be legislated, why not the coaches.  Let's say the time period for approaching coaches would be the time between their last game of the season and the late signing period in April.  That way players know if their coach will be there before the late signing period (any smart kid would hold up to the late period if he suspects the coach may be moving on) and can react accordingly.

Life as we know it, has become a disloyal, absolute three ring circus for the sake of the almighty dollar and instant gratification…

I want off the ride - now.

Can we convince Bobby Knight to retire down here? Then we don't have to worry about him leaving

Re: Rex Walters to USF (no, not that one)

Try to look at this from both sides.  The glass is either half full, or half empty.  On the half full side, it looks like FAU was smart in taking a chance on Rex.  Even though he pparently is off to USF, he leaves behind a talented returning group that (dare I say it?) could compete for the Sun Belt title.  The issue now is to solidify the commitment of the players returning and recruited for next year.  If we can pull that off, the bitter-sweet taste of his departure after 3 years will be more sweet than bitter.

On the half empty side-I'm not sure this team has the maturity to play well without the stern leadership of the coach.  This could be a 20+ win season for us, so selecting the right guy to run the show is essential.  Clearly Mike Balado should be given a look, but the coach at Lynn should also be considered.  Mike knows the system and has recruited some of the players, and is a South Florida guy.  Scott (Lynn) is a very successful head coach who is also SoFla loyal.  I think FAU would be wise to go after these two–forget the national search BS, and begin to get back on the road to developing our players for next year.

I for one think that when it all is said and done, history will show that the Walters era at FAU will receive a lot of credit for the turn around of the successful BB program.  Adieu and good luck at SF, coach.

You may be right, but I'll bet that Balado was in the mix in recruiting Pena and since he is a (somewhat) local boy, we may be able to keep him.  I think under present rules he is obligated to play next year (he signed, Riley hasn't), but if he wants out, so be it.

If Balado is here…

Thgink you are right as well, he probably did play a huge part in recruiting Pena…

Riley is going to Hargrave this year, so it wont matter…

If someone mentioned this already, please excuse, I have one minute then I have to run.

Did anyone see Walters on campus Wednesday? I heard thats when he was supposed to be back. If he was, did he meet with the players?
