I expect at least to hang around teams like DAYTON etc.
Unfortunately, Dayton's program and our program shouldn't even be considered close. Every aspect of their basketball program is above ours…so I think it is an expectation thing.
Why should our program be annointed some great program when most people don't care? We have a high school gym and no one goes to watch games.
Here is where the excuses will begin: The students were on break, we don't win enough games, we don't play anyone worthwhile.
A big difference between Dayton and FAU (aside from facilities and budget) is Support! Support builds programs. We can change coaches and change players and it will all be the same until many more people want to commit to building something here IMO.
Don't confuse this with being content with what we have. I am not content with where we are and what we have. The reality is that hoping and wishing and dreaming doesn't make anything change.
Thank you, you nailed it Mark! This forum many times proves your point even more. Lots of folks complaining and pointing fingers, yet many of them don't attend games, watch when they are on tv or listen on the radio. Support for our student athletes both emotionally (by attending events) and financially (by attending events, promoting the program and donating) is what will take our programs to the next level. Unfortunately as a school we have a lot of talkers and not a lot of doers it seems, and that is what separates good from great in all aspects of life.
…and my main point is not to call out anyone for not doing enough. We all do whatever we can, I am sure.
The point is we need to reach 1000s more and get them doing everything they can and until we get there, we will have programs that struggle at times. To think we can waive a magic wand and be a mid-major program like, Dayton…is unrealistic.

Agreed, and I want intending to either. The bottom line is for all sports, we need to build the fan base, both students, alumni and others, and get buts in the seats and money in the coffers! We are definitely headed in the right direction overall, at least in a better direction IMO.

I was disappointed with the loss to MTSU and Dayton but any time you go into WKU and come out with a win is impressive even though they were playing with a few injured players.
ULM and Elon are two games we should have won. And I bet next year this team will know how to put teams away so we can count on a few more wins. I don't know what everyone was expecting this year, we're playing a lot of Freshman and we have a chance to make some noise if we get better contribution from some key players like Dragan.
Look, I'm not giving Jarvis a pass but who are we going to get that's better at the moment? This is south Florida, this is not college basketball territory. And I bet that the Burrow will be consistently full if we continue to hang around the top of the conference. Students will begin to show up now that school is back in session and I think we'll continue to see the same spotty attendance on the "old people" side.
Ok, I'm done. My posts are too long, I know, lol. But I don't comment on the board as frequently as I used to so I have to get it all out at once (TWSS) so sorry for the long read
