Re: Ted Hutton's BLOG today

Yea sure, go ahead and hire Mike Jarvis.

And then a year from now we will be here seeing "they will hire as the next head coach"….

Hiring Jarvis=Stupid Move

Re: Ted Hutton's BLOG today

Understand your concern, Butter, but it looks like the opposite could be the problem.  Jarvis may have lost his "coaching magic" and FAU would have to use dynamite to get him off campus, since on several occasions now it seems he is sincere about his next job being one where he will stick around for 100 wins.

Re: Ted Hutton's BLOG today

Look, Mike Jarvis has been out of coaching for 4 years….and he interviewed for the Stanford job.

He was given the opportunity to go to a BIG TIME program in Stanford, after being out of basketball for 4 years….so all it will take is one winning season at FAU and he will a shot at another University.

WHY CAN'T PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THAT??

He talks about wanting to go to a school where he can get 100 wins, blah blah, its so sad to say this, but this business is all about lying to people and singing them the song they want to hear.

ITS A MISTAKE WAITING TO HAPPEN!

Re: Ted Hutton's BLOG today

…..or he stays. You don't know, no one does. Everyone thought Rex was in it for the long haul and we know what happened. Yeah, these guys lie and try to get ahead. At the same time, the guy is 63 years old and say he's successful for two years, what major program is going to hire a 65 year old coach? Major programs just don't generally go for these types, they all try and get the next Billy Donovan. To me, a guy like Balado is much more likely to try and cash in on any success he has here. Not saying that Mike is that kind of guy, but he's been an assistant coach at FAU for two years….not exactly breaking the bank in that job. At some point he's got to try and support his family somehow and if a Mercer comes along with a RW type offer, dont you think he's got to take it? I would and so would most of you. Jarvis has made his money and is just looking for the opportunity to redeem himself and (if you believe what he's quoted as saying) getting 100 wins at a 4th school. You take a chance whoever you hire, and if i'm taking a chance, i'm doing it with the guy with 300+ wins.

Re: Ted Hutton's BLOG today

How can Jarvis be a finalist if he hasn't even interviewed yet? And how can Teddy be sure Jarvis really is a finalist if Angelos doesn't confirm (or deny) who the other finalists are? He doesn't name any sources, even anonymous ones, so he must be going off Jarvis' word. Take that for what it's worth.

And what was with the huge story about the life and times of Mike Jarvis in the first place? Must have been a slow news day. That article just seems like a giant wet slurp for someone who at this point hasn't publicly been named a finalist.

Re: Ted Hutton's BLOG today

I look at it this way, it's completely IMPOSSIBLE for Angelos to allow another $25 buyout clause in the next contract he writes so even IF Jarvis were hired and bailed after one or two seasons it has to be a money maker for the program. I bet we get another ESPN piece done about us too!
