As long as we pay our head basketball coach $170k…the joke on us continues.

Just a thought–maybe Jarvis wondered why MD and RW walked so quickly and had a quiet talk with them as to what to expect (other than low pay).  The coaching fraternity is fairly tight and MJ may have solicited some input.  Additionally, although FAU was rated the 12th best recruiting class for midmajor teams this year,  the spectre of departing players has to be incorporated.  If it is MJ asking for the 1 yr contract, it could be a reflection of his opinion of the team AFTER CM and PGIII are gone.  A good one year record at FAU and a 1 year contract ending with that season just puts him at 64 with a chance to be employed by a "non stepping stone", basketball program that will give him the opportunity to get his 4 school, 100 win objective.

If it is FAU offering MJ, there is something "stinky" going on.  They must have some "institutional concerns" that could be satisfied by closely monitoring the coach in that timeframe????? C'mon, if they need a year to find out if he is clean, don't bother with an offer.

Still makes zero sense.  There is no reason for Angelos and Brogan to ask for or accept a 1 year deal for a head coach.  If Jarvis wanted a 1 year deal, Angelos and Brogan would move on to the next candidate…If they have concerns about Jarvis, they move on to next candidate.  I highly doubt they want to be in the exact same position a year from now that they are now.

Bottom line is no coach accepts a 1 year contract and no school offers a 1 year contract.

Form the coach perspective…Who wants to be a lame duck?  It makes it harder to coach and impossible to recruit.

From the school perspective…If you are that unsure of the candidate, you find someone you are willing to committ to long term.

Why would the guy say his career goal is to win 100 games at four different schools, and then only plan on being here on year??

He's 63…….

so it is unanimous-this is non-sense.  pretty sad for an institute of higher learning to become involved in confusion, delay and what appears to be a breakdown in logical thought.  wake me when its over

The instituion isn't involved in the confusion or breakdown in logical thought…this board is.  No place else has even mentioned the possiblity of giving a coach a 1 year deal…in fact, the "credible" media outlets have said the opposite(that stability is a key factor in the hire).

As for the delay…Not much to say in defense of that….HIRE A COACH ALREADY!!!
