The Truth About The Contract Negotiations With Coach Jarvis

If Coach Pelini is allowed to use the Football Excellence Fund for additional salary/bonuses, then I'm sure a Basketball Excellence Fund could do the same if written into Coach Jarvis' contract.

Re: The Truth About The Contract Negotiations With Coach Jarvis

This is from Hoopdirt.com, a great website for coaches.

"I’ve heard some grumblings down at Florida Atlantic regarding the status of head coach Mike Jarvis. Sounds like he was promised a contract extension last spring – he still has not received one. According to people down there, Jarvis is really not sure if he will be retained or not. Jarvis is 52-67 in his 3+ years in Boca including a 21-win campaign last year."

They will have to call in U.N. peace keepers if this deal isn't made.

What worries me is, last spring they promised him a deal. Why promise him a deal? Why not just DO THE DEAL? Why do you need to wait if you KNOW at that time that you WILL give him an extension?

I think it's all hear say at this point. The only people who really know what was "promised", are coach and Angelos. I think everything else is just speculation

Everything I wrote at the beginning of this thread came from Coach Jarvis himself. There IS a contract extension that has been offered and it's for $275K/yr.  The reason why it is not final is that coach is fighting for his assistants to get a fair wage consistent with what others in their position are paid in the Sunbelt.

Re: The Truth About The Contract Negotiations With Coach Jarvis

With all this conference shuffling going on, now is not really a good time for FAU to look cheap. If we do end up with an invite to this new conference, hopefully that meansore revenue which will equate to a higher salary not only for Jarvis and staff but for all coaches. Coach Mac included

We don't have the infrastructure right now for a move like that.  I thought we did, but now I'm seeing we don't.

This is just pathetic… you cant expect ANYONE to live on what Pete Gash (one of the hardest workers i have ever seen) makes each year.  its just not fair at all.
