Zack Bryant and William Lee exploded for 20+-point games in No. 6 UAB’s 83-72 first-round win over No. 11 Florida Atlantic Wednesday at the 2018 C-USA Men’s Basketball Championship. No. 3 WKU awaits the Blazers in the quarterfinal nightcap on Thursday. UAB has now won five of their last seven C-USA Championship games, including a title in 2015.

UAB shot 55 percent as a team (33-60), draining 6-of-19 treys to contribute to the highest point total of the men’s tournament. Bryant went 10-for-13 from the field to tally a game-high 25 points, and pulled down six rebounds in 34 minutes. Lee chipped in 20 points bolstered by 4-of-8 3-pointers, and another six boards.

Florida Atlantic saw four players reach double figures. Ronald Delph was a rebound shy of a double-double with 22 points and nine rebounds. Jailyn Ingram contributed 16 points with three boards and three assists. Justin Massey and Payton Hulsey notched 15 and 11 points, respectively.

Delph ends his FAU career with 636 rebounds, third most in school history. His 270 boards this season is the third highest single season total. Delph’s 168 career blocks is also third in school history.

Justin Massey made three three-pointers in the game. Both Massey and Gerdarius Troutman ended the season with 75 for the year, the seventh best single-season total in school history. Troutman’s .420 career three-point percentage is good for third place in program history.
