The longer this coaching search goes on the more I get worried. If UM can't get who they want I don't see why they won't offer the job to Jarvis. I know reports have said he's not UM's top candidate but it seems like their top choices don't want to go to Miami. And I think people are missing the point on why Jarvis would leave, you're right that its not about the money, its about the chance to play at Cameron Indoor Stadium every year, to travel to Chapel Hill year in and year out and play against legitimate National Championship contenders every year. Thats why I feel like Jarvis would leave if offered. Not because he'd be making 5x as much money, but because he'd be coaching against the best coaches out there and he'd have a chance to build a national championship contender
Just because Amaker turned them down, doesn't mean these other "younger" coaches are going to do the same. Plus, Amaker had unique circumstances for not taking the job (his wife is a Harvard professor). Jarvis' name hasn't really been mentioned and they just hired a new AD with absolutely no connection to him. I wouldn't be all that concerned about losing Coach to UM at this point…although I would feel better if we came out and signed him to an extension already!

Angelos was recently on record saying he would like to sign Coach for another three years; and offer some more $$$.

Again Jarvis isn't 40 years old and wanting to get that 1st big coaching break where he's in awe when he goes to Chapel Hill or Cameron Indoor.
The man's been around a long time, he's been there, done that. I believe coach deuce was on Coach K's staff at one point. Jarvis coached games at Madison Square Garden in NYC. He's been on the big stage before. I don't think he goes anywhere. If he leaves for another school they know they have 3 MAYBE 4 years out of him, then they gotta start the search again. If they hire someone who is young and he does well in Miami he can be there for a long time.
Haith was there 7 years and he sucked. So I doubt they go for a coach who is likely to be retired in 4 years.
My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

Re: UM Could Name Coach by Monday - Jarvis Not Mentioned
George Mason's Jim Larranaga has had serious discussions with Miami officials about the ACC school's coaching vacancy, multiple sources told CBSSports.com on Thursday. Whether Larranaga is leveraging for a better deal from George Mason or on the verge of actually moving to Miami is unclear, both sources said. But the talks are advanced and ongoing, and the 61-year-old New York native has developed into Miami's top target.
Miami is searching for a replacement for Frank Haith.
Haith left earlier this month to replace Mike Anderson at Missouri.
Larranaga has spent 14 seasons at George Mason.
He famously led the Colonial school to the 2006 Final Four.
My reason for posting this is, as you can see, it seems that UM isn't too concerned with age now so the excuse that UM won't offer to Jarvis because he's too old doesn't really hold up.
