WANTED: Five Highly Talented Recruits

All signees for the early period have asked for, and been granted, thier releases…leaving us with the remaining seven roster scholarship players for the fall as it stands at present…so, we now need to sign five recruits…which is doubtful at this point in time…not impossible, but doubtful.

Riley is also off of the recruiting sites as a verbal commit…that one hurts!  :-\

BUT, we shall move on!  Here is Ted's news from today:

Recruits seek release

I have a feeling they thought Jarvis could keep one or all of them…we don't know the inside story as of yet, it may have been mutual…so, we shall see when that finally comes out.

Ears to the ground for any news…please post if you hear anything credible on new signings, etc.

Disappointing, but we have to move on.  Maybe it is best to start with a clean slate.  Besides, it isn't as if Rex's recruits were anything to write home about(admittedly it was a small sample size to judge).  I'm sure Jarvis will find some good players, even at this late date.

Re: WANTED: Five Highly Talented Recruits

There is no good time to throw cold water on optimism, but MJ has to scramble just to get 10 practice players.  The 7 returnees should have been expected to gobble up the majority of the playing time, but Pena ranked very high and woud probably challenge at the 2 or 3, Shine would have been Nwoji's backup.

ESPN rated the incoming group as high as 12th best recruiting group in their Mid-Major conference brackets—you may be right, but if ESPN is right, "Rex's" recruits were not chopped liver, and Sutton and Pena could have been immediate impact players.

My initial thought is that MJ needs a couple of angels in the Jr College arena.

Re: WANTED: Five Highly Talented Recruits

hey i haven't posted in awhile because i haven't had much to say. i think our team just went down hill for next year. pena was the number one recruit in our conference as a shooting forward, sutton wouldn't taken a lot of heat off carlos and royster and given us a big man down low. shine would've given nwoji a breather.

i can't imagine mj pulling much this late, school starts in six weeks. nexy year is going to be a waste of monroe, nwoji and graham.

Sadly, we may have to take a step back to take a step forward (unless MJ does have an JC "angel")

Oh how expectations for the bball team have changed so quickly.  Yeah this could be a rough year now.  But ill keep my hope for the team alive of course and put my faith in MJ.  Man we could really use the real MJ this year though.

Re: WANTED: Five Highly Talented Recruits

At this stage of the game we should be seeking 5 highly MOTIVATED recruits, if they are talented they are gone already.

Re: WANTED: Five Highly Talented Recruits

The only problem I see with  losing all the recruits, is the MJ might have to deal with the same stuff Rex had to deal with the past two years - academic eligibility issues.  He will have to take some chances on a few players much like Doherty & Rex had to do to fill the roster, which proved to make it a hard transition.

This would have been the year a lot of those problems would have been behind us and  build the program was about to began, not being able to hold on to any recruits  :'(  that hurts us big time.
