FAU vs UNC

You know none of those guys have ever been in a game like that in their life!!!! Lets hope it works like the OOC football games.

Any word on Monroe? There is another post saying its grades but we heard earlier this week that was just a bad rumor.

Rice was the high scorer in his first game this season.

wow, that game was tough to watch. UNC just doesn't miss.

as far as Los Monroe is concerned, the person who told me that it was his grades was quoting a discussion he had with the AD and he's a reliable source to me so I'm gonna believe it for now. until it's officially announced it's still just a rumor.

Let's just be happy that we don't have to face another team like UNC again this year!

I usually dont drink on weekdays...but as I sat there watching that Apollo Creed vs. Ivan Drago basketball game, I sucked down 10 beers to put out the flaming misery. Why did we go up there to play that game again??? We need to not play another team like that until we have the size to compete and defend down low.

I know its hard to watch your team get bulldozed but we were saying the same thing when the football team was getting schmeared by the BCS teams. Then when they were competative in the Sunbelt, we changed our tune. We were one reception away from going 6-6 when the "experts" predicted 1-11.

Rex was quoted in the paper saying that he wanted to show his team the level of play he wants to achieve by bringing them to UNC.

That beating probably didn't accomplish as much as Coach Walters would have liked. I liked it better after we beat Troy and felt like we were much better this year than anticipated. That was a reality check. Hopefully we can regroup and focus on UMKC and FIU. If we can win those 2 games, the UNC game will fade away.

Here are UNC Coach Roy William's comments after the game:

Opening remarks -

"The bottom line is we?re more gifted anyway, and then when you get to a point that they don?t have their two leading scorers in the game, it?s really difficult for Rex [Walters?] club to have much intensity. But I loved our intensity in the first half. I loved our attention to detail, and I loved just about everything we did. We started building on some defensive play in the game on Saturday against [UNC-]Asheville, and I think our youngsters wanted to try and build on that today, and I think we did. [Florida Atlantic] had a difficult time completing passes and getting looks at the basket at all in the first half. It?s hard to maintain that in the second half, but we also got some good work in, because we played zone basically for the first time all year. I think that will help us in the long run as well. We didn?t play it very well, but I think it?s getting the experience of that. At halftime I think we had seven guys already in double figure minutes. I like when you look down there and the starter who had the most minutes had 22 minutes. So that means a lot of guys got some extra time as well.

It?s one of those things you hate, because I look down to the bench and see Rex standing there coming to me and I told him, ?I know it?s hard, but try to be positive.? You guys have no idea what it?s like to coach a youngster who gave you every ounce of his heart, body and soul, and then to see him down on the other end of the bench. He didn?t have the weapons we had. That youngster is going to be a great college coach, and he was a great college player. I?m where I am today because of Rex Walters and some of the other guys. I felt sorry for him, but at the same time, he doesn?t like that because he?s as competitive as you can possibly be. Their leading scorer from last year just got eligible today, and then two leading scorers from this year didn?t get to play, so he didn?t have enough weapons."

It wasn't all that bad. Missing our two best players is a big deal. It would be a big deal for any team including UNC. Iknow we got crushed but it might have been different if we would have been able to have the two best scorers in. I think it would have. Things will only get better. Go Owls!!

Ill be in Kansas close to UMKC when they play us in Boca. Hopefully we can have some redemption!!!!

I feel having Walters here will be a great asset. Knowing how crazy a school Kansas is for Bball iIthink he wants to accomplish something like that here. All in good time.

Bball isnt like football. We could get better within a year whereas for football that isnt as easy.

Monroe and Graham aren't only our two biggest scores but easily 80% of our team. I was at the game at Marist. The best guys on the other teams double up on them which opens lanes for guys like parmer and simmons. Without those two were in such huge trouble its scary.

I was surprised to see how much time Kuka has last night. Holley only played seven minutes.

Does Monroe need tutoring or something…I have time on my hands. Also, we need somebody to Mr. Miagi Paul Graham's ankle.
