GAME THREAD: Charlotte @ FAU - January 12
15:33 2H | #FAU 34 - #Charlotte 33— FAU Owl's Nest (@FAU_Owls_Nest) January 12, 2019
Owls stormed out to a two possession advantage before Jon Davis does his best Anthony Adger impersonation as he hits a three when the shot clock hits 00. Forrest and Adger lead all scorers with 13 points a piece.
Charlotte is 3-3 from three this half, improving their 3FG% to 46.2.— FAU Owl's Nest (@FAU_Owls_Nest) January 12, 2019
Owls are struggling from the perimeter, converting 6-25 3FG with 11:30 left in the second half.
5:15 2H | #Charlotte 51 - #FAU 46— FAU Owl's Nest (@FAU_Owls_Nest) January 12, 2019
49ers have converted four straight FGs, two of which were three-pointers.
Owls are 0-6 FG over the same time span, having not scored in over 3:45.
This is less than ideal.
3:48 2H | #Charlotte 56 - #FAU 49— FAU Owl's Nest (@FAU_Owls_Nest) January 12, 2019
The Burrow is lifeless as the 49ers match their largest lead of the game. Owls need to start doing something that they have struggled with all afternoon: hitting threes or collecting offensive rebounds. FAU is 9-33 3PT & has 9 OffRebs.
2:30 2H | #Charlotte 61 - #FAU 49— FAU Owl's Nest (@FAU_Owls_Nest) January 12, 2019
The 49ers have converted a ridiculous 8 straight FGs down the stretch. And a Charlotte dunk could be the dagger. Owls are moments away from losing their first regular season home game of the 2018-2019 campaign.
FINAL | #Charlotte 65 - #FAU 60— FAU Owl's Nest (@FAU_Owls_Nest) January 12, 2019
For the first time in the Dusty May era, the Owls (11-6, 2-2) lose a regular season game at home. A 9-0 Owls rally wasn't enough to overcome Charlotte's Jon Davis shooting 81% FG for 24 points.
NEXT: @ Marshall (9-6, 2-0), Thurs. 7PM ET
While Charlotte isn't as bad as their record indicates, we had a SERIOUS shot at being one of the conference's top four teams going into this week. All we had to is beat Charlotte, and we're in the top four pod. Now missing out on that opportunity bites, especially with another tough road trip looming.
