So, looking at the 17 games left, anyone see 12 that are winnable?
:D
Not saying more aren't…just saying…20 wins is a great number.
IMO, we can do it.
It's doable, but will be difficult. I will put the pressure of that feat on the DePaul game this Wednesday. If we lose, I am going with 18 wins on the year, and if we win it, I will go with the 20 (based on road performance and momentum).
We will still need to win 8 out of 10 (no fewer than 7) at home or 4 out of 6 (no fewer than 3) on the road after DePaul. If we reach the "fewer" marks on both of those scenarios, it does not add up. Still a big task.
Of course, I am only looking at it from a numbers perspective. i have not seen enough SunBelt teams in action this year to form an intelligent opinion on individual games. We will always lose some we should win, and win some we should lose.
One thing I see as a possible issue to reaching 20 is our scheduling:
We have 2 home games in February on a Saturday, with an away game the preceding Thursday. That is bad scheduling.
On Feb 3, we play AT North Texas, and then have to fly home for a home game to play FIU on Feb 5. FIU gets to take a bus while we have to fly to our home game.
On Feb 10, we play AT Denver, and then fly home for a home game to play LA-LA on Feb 12. We are flying from Denver, while LA-LA has a shorter trip.
I know it sounds minor but those are the kinds of things that can negate the advantages of playing at home. Also the kids miss more school with that scenario.
That's my 2 cents. 20 wins would be impressive.
