Final Quick Stats:

FAU
17-42 (40%) FG, 4-12 ( 33.3%) 3PT

MTSU
24-48 ( 50%) FG, 2-13 ( 15.3%) 3PT

Owls led by six points midway through the first half, but a 26-0 run by the Blue Raiders proved to be the deciding factor.

FAU turned the ball over 15 times and shot just 40% from the field. The team went over 10 times of play without a bucket.

Middle Tennessee State dominated the boards out-rebounding the Owls 32-27

Greg Gantt had a game-high 23 points, while Stefan Moody chipped in another 18 points. The duo combined for 41 of the teams 52 points.

Forward Jordan McCoy picked up four early fouls, and wasn't much of a factor on the defensive end of the court. Freshman Chris Bryant saw some action in his place and finished with three rebounds.

The Blue Raiders had three players score in double-figures and where led by Marcos Knights 13 points.

MTSU improves to 9-0 at home this season.

Owl’s Nest Prediction

This will be the start of biggest test of the season for the Owls and head coach Mike Jarvis…

MTSU – 11

Not bad Andrew, one point off the final difference.

If you're someone who bet that 16 point line, I bet you're upset right now.

MTSU has assumed WKU's spot as the league's premier team at this point in time, IHMO…they've narrowed the gap in a noticeable way.

The Hilltoppers just have not  been able to recover from the McDonald era - as of yet.

Regardless, another tough match-up awaits in less than 48 hours…….

Man just when I though Bertone was turning the corner, ready to be a legitimate third option... Sigh..

Licking our wounds here… I read that MTSU was going to challenge us defensively, so not surprised we didn't score that much. Still, the final box stats are pretty representative of the overall team performance in most games this season.

So..

True or false, honest question here: Every FAU player that could consistently score 15+ ppg had been doing so from their first year on campus? e.g. Gantt, Taylor, Moody

How many players can you think of that "caught fire" late? Can we look back and say, historically, these guys who are averaging 0-3 ppg now are going to play like completely different people next year?

Otherwise, do we really think we can win an SBC title (or even compete in tournaments) with less than 3 guys chipping in 10+ ppg? Is Moody going to contribute ~20 and the rest chip in 5 apiece? Is that what's going to take us "where we've never gone before?"
