Defense - 71.1 PGA, 41.1% FGA, 32.2% 3PTA

Rebounding - 39.1 PG Team, 40.5 PG Opponents

Notables

Like the Owls, Marshall saw a 2nd half lead vanish on Thursday night in a 66-62 overtime loss to Florida International in Miami.

The Herd shot a respectable 41.4% in the first half, only to go 10-for-45 the final two frames (22.2%) The Panthers cleaned up in the paint with a 36-16 edge as well.

After having to deal with George Fant against the Toppers, the Owls will face another bulky workhorse in 6-6, 225 lb forward Ryan Taylor, who leads Marshall in both scoring (13.9 ppg) and rebounding (8.2 pg).

Marshall is last in Conference USA in field goal percentage (38.2%), but 2nd in three pointers made per outing with 8.35. Guard Austin Loop is the squads best performer from in long range, where he has drained 49 threes.

FAU at a Glance

Offense - 63.6 PPG, 42.5% FG, 36.3% 3PT

Defense - 63.3 PGA, 42.7% FGA, 25.6% 3PTA

Rebounding - 31.7 PG Team, 35.3 PG Opponents

Notables

With three scorers at 20 points or better, one would have thought that FAU was on the way to victory Thursday night. However, that would not be the case as a 13 point lead vanished and WKU turned the screws on defense for a 88-85 win in overtime before 1,491 onlookers.

FAU netted season highs with 14 three pointers and 85 points, but also moved to 1-6 on the year when shooting 40% or lower from the floor overall.

Contrary to popular expectation or belief, an overall mark of 7-8 is not common for the squad. In fact, they have only seen it three times in the last 18 seasons.

The Owls are still tops in the league in three point field goal percentage defense (25.6%) , but rank last in assists per game with 10.73.

FAU will have 12 days off after Saturday, which is coming at a good time. Justin Raffington's prognosis has been slightly upgraded - with a possible return later in the month either on January 29th, or 31st. Initially he was not expected to return until some time in February.
