( Re: Tournament Game Thread: FAU vs UALR
It seems like we had 4 fans there, other than the dance team and band. Take it from someone that was actually at the game. The refs were TERRIBLE. It was the worst thing I have EVER seen. They called charges on us like crazy. In the beginning, the crappy calling was going both ways, but at the end, the refs basically took the ball out of our hands. I'm never one to blame the refs for a loss, but man did they help tremendously tonight. There was a sort of stage thing that the drummers played on, i nearly fell off I was yelling so much at them. ULAR was terrible at free throws, they kept us in the game. We shot pretty decent, probably around 85% from the line. Other than that we were pretty bad. This boggles my mind, WHY DID WE NOT SHOOT FROM THE OUTSIDE AT ALL?!?!? Like the second time we played FIU, we couldn't get much penetration, they had a HUGE guy that Los just couldn't get around no matter what. That happened with FIU, and last Wed we shot from the outside WAY more, we didnt even attempt that much, we'd get good looks and then drive and run into their players and throw up some hopeless shot. Graham is probably the best at penetrating, but everytime he would throw up this floater thing that never went in. We needed to shoot from the outside more and we didnt. That really made me mad. And where did Perkins come from? I havent checked the box score, but I think he led the team in points. How do you go from playing limited minutes the ENTIRE season, to scoring the most in the tournament? Doesn't make any sense. Another thing, after the score being like 5-4 for the first ten mins, why didn't Rex put in Graham, he NEEDS to be in for us to score, and he wasn't. I never understand that. I love Royster, but he's got to learn to score more and not just foul people. Hopefully he gained alot of experience and will work hard in the off season. We NEED a big 7 footer, we can't be a strong presents in the Belt without one. Their big guy was just flat out good, he manhandled Los. Los just couldnt do enough to stop him. If he'd stick him good he'd find a way around, and if you gave him room, he'd shoot AND he was good from the line! Props to him. This game should have been ours. My biggest thing, other than the refs was the lack of outside shooting. I just dont understand why we didn't stick with that plan, it seemed to work pretty well against FIU. What was Rex thinking? I'm not sure about his T, maybe he was hoping that it'd fire the team up, and it might have worked. I could go on all night, but there's some poker going on downstairs and I wanna get in on it,lol. Anyways, it was a tough season. Next year we should be even better and I think we should have a shot at the title. I know it was an up and down season(more down at first, then up) but it was still exciting. The team played their hearts out and I'm proud of them no matter what. GO OWLS
