"University Boulevard"

I used to live right off 20th and we would pass by Las Fajitas all the time. At first I was a little scared to try it until a bunch of people raved about it and then we probably visited once a week. Super small place but good food, and lots of it.

I think a Splitsville would be great down here.

DMarkey, like the new avatar!

Very nice :)

Thought I'd post this here:

Looks like a giant mall/complex with everything: shops, restaurants, bars, clubs, etc.

Think they may have moved the original University Boulevard location to this area (south of i-95 north of Spanish River Blvd.)

Re: "University Boulevard"

In today's day and age you would think they could include a map and an aerial of the site.

Boca and FAU are gonna grow and soon!

Wow! Really, really interesting… I'll keep an eye on this project and let you guys know. The problem is that even though it may be called "University Village", it may not actually be catered to college students - might just be a proximity thing. Sure, they'll have residences, but it may be upscale condos and upscale shops… which does nothing for us. Hopefully it won't be University Commons all over again.

Hmm, I don't think so. This development is an entirely different project. Might even have a different scope.

Even if this new parcel was super successful, that doesn't change the fact that 20th Street needs to become University Boulevard for financial and aesthetic reasons, not to mention what it does for the university.

Once both these things are a reality… it'll be huge. Just picture it: as soon as you cross of 95, you either pass University Village and FAU or you pass University Commons and FAU, then you can move into University Boluevard…. it's going to be awesome if they do it right.

Re: "University Boulevard"

If you think about it, these recent projects hold a lot of potential for FAU.

- On campus you'll have the Innovation Village near the stadium with restaurants and shops.
- Leave campus to the north you'll have this University Village project with (likely student) restaurants, shops and housing. Maybe even nightlife.
- Leave campus to the east and you'll have University Boulevard with student restaurants, shops and nightlife.
- On the South side we already have University Commons with restaurants and shops, and who knows, maybe one day that will expand east. And hey, maybe they'll even cater to students one day.

It would be all around us and students would have lots of options.

At that point, it would be much harder to argue that this doesn't feel more like a college town.

Re: "University Boulevard"

Las Fajitas was always great.  This thread is turning into another "Then and Now" thread.  ;D.  I hit Nippers a few times for the after hours beers, and we did the $.25 nights quite a few times at the bowling alley.  I remember the weekly specials in the area were:

Sunday: Either quarter beers and bowling or reggae at Boston's on the Beach
Monday: $1 Coors lights at the well (Although Dave always gave them to me anyway)
Tues:  Open Mike Night at the well
Weds.: Surf Cafe night
Thurs.: Open Mike and Brian playing at Kahuna's
Fri: I remember going to no way Jose's a lot for 3-4-1's
Sat + Sun: who can remember.

It's great to see FAU and Boca growing now though.

FAU - We got Bowls!

My schedule was similar, there was something going on every night of the week if you wanted, which explains why I was in college for so long!  ;D

Re: "University Boulevard"

I am a 3rd that was pretty much on that schedule.

I went to Surf Cafe only once and I think I set some sort of record for intoxication.  I really have not drank tequilla since that night 10 years ago.

Its also funny that I rememeber what I used to do on Wednesday nights but have no clue what was going on Saturdays.  I think I was so tired from partying on the weekdays that I just relaxed on Saturdays.  That comment just depressed me while typing it.

Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.

Re: "University Boulevard"

Wonder if any of these projects - the University Village thing to the north or University Boulevard to the east - will give us something like this.

Or how long we'll have to wait for something like this to move forward.
