The first FAU controversy of 2016?

Former UP adviser extraordinaire (he was seriously awesome) Michael Koretsky wrote a recent blog post (NSFW) explaining that next Wednesday, February 3rd, topless women volunteers from the Go Topless Movement will be handing out issues of the South Florida Gay News, which feels like it's getting the run-around from FAU about a spot for their magazine boxes due to the Breezeway renovation that will occur until May 2017.

If that doesn't get people's attention, this probably will:

"We’ll notify local media, and our volunteers will even hand-deliver copies to the office of FAU President John Kelly."

We'll see how Kelly (and FAU) responds. There literally will be no problems if they just agree to place a SFGN metal box outside the Breezeway somewhere - like in the Student Union. There is no reason for FAU to dig in about this. The fact that it's come to this at all is strange.

But hey, kinda looking forward to seeing how students react to topless women handing out magazines on campus. Hoping it makes for a funny story, and not a national backlash.

I think there making a mountain out of a mole hill. Have you ever seen where the long row of paper boxes was under the Ritter? It was rarely filled and had just tons of glossy ad cards. The PM on the Breezeway project probably looked at the boxes saw they weren't being used and didn't make contingency for relocation. They also probably didn't want to mount the box somewhere else and cause additional work to fill and repair the concrete at a temp site. As for temp boxes that aren't mounted, it causes an issue of being stolen. When I was younger I picked up a couple of night shifts from a guy that delivered for the Post, the damage and missing boxes was amazing. Not just the Post boxes but the free papers as well. If FAU gave that mag a temp box and it went missing would they try to force FAU to give them a replacement?
