CSE building sketch
looks like two buildings now…? I know Lm was saying that it would actually be two buildings:
If they can't get a donor, it would be nice to try to name the building after someone significant in the field.

Looks nice, very modern. Are those solar panels on top?
As for the donor, I have $20 and I once successfully hooked-up a wireless printer.

ERROR: A link was posted here (url) but it appears to be a broken link.
http://www.fau.edu/facilities/fp/projects/bt616.pdfIt's supposed to be a LEED Platinum building, but I'm unsure if that means that there will be solar panels.
The floor plan for the first floor has been on display in the Dean's office.
Now, from what I have heard, the second building (for the other departments) is a bit more of a question mark. Funds still need to be raised. I believe it is hoped that someone will buy the naming rights to the College, which would fund the second building.
BTW, the first building alone will cost $45 million!

I hope they will keep their projects on display in the lobby of the first floor like they do with the submarine and the racecar in the current Engineering building. I read something about wanting to put a piano in the lobby to inspire creativity but there's a piano in the Biomedical Sciences building for the same purpose and it's just collecting dust.Lm77 said
It is planned to be a complex of two buildings. The first building is for the Computer Science and Engineering and the Electrical Engineering departments. The funds have already been allocated and construction will start soon. That sketch is out of date – here's what it will look like:

Yeah, well, if that's FAU's plan I would definitely have a Plan B.Lm77 said

AFAIK, there will be an expanded "showcase" area in the new building.

Lm, you forgot about the best part of the building,,, There will be a dance floor! There will also be a bigger study area for engineering students to get tutoring and such. Also there will be some research labs which will be mostly computer science and electrical.
…a dance floor? I know they wanted to put a piano in the lobby.
They should put up a volleyball net… I've seen the engineering grads playing volleyball next to SE.
