The TCPalm article indicates that the submarines could be used in this research. That is good news since they were planned to be phased out due to cost cutbacks.
What other universities in the country have their own submarines? We have 2.

Our new campus at Harbor Branch is building on its reputation as a world class marine science leader. FAU will probably have one of the leading marine biology/science programs before long.
