FAU Faculty Oppose Stadium Renaming Too

This is getting to be such a headache. I say issue a challenge to these people and the faculty. They have two years to raise 7 million dollars and out buy GeoGroup. Then they will see its not so easy to get a company to give up some cash for naming rights.

TeemBeer has more than a point.

In 1984, a Boston College quarterback named Doug Flutie heaved a “Hail Mary” pass that defeated a Miami football powerhouse. In the next two years, after Flutie became a household name and won the Heisman Trophy, applications to Boston College spiked by 30 percent.

Similarly, after George Mason University’s magical Final Four run in the NCAA Basketball Tournament in 2006, applications jumped 22 percent in the following year. And at Butler University, after its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament championship game in 2010, applications jumped from 6,760 to 9,518.

The academic year after the Gaels made it to the Sweet 16, the incoming freshman class was noticeably larger. According to Saint Mary’s records, there were 695 incoming students in the freshman class in 2010. That was up almost 22 percent from the prior year’s enrollment of 572 students.

if the faculty felt so strongly against this then they should just donate the money themselves by taking a pay cut

So you want to wait a total of 4 years before we have naming rights in place?  No thank you.  People will always complain…and to be honest EVERYONE I know, knows how big of a fan of FAU and FAU sports I am…you know how many people outside of the FAU world has brought up this atrocious GEO Group stadium name?  ZERO!

I had a couple texts about it.

But I think people have moved onto the Jesus Stomp thing now anyway.

To be fair, they also think FAU should have higher admission standards because they're complaining about students ability to form cohesive arguments or do simple arithmetic. And they think Saunders should be replaced.

Both of these things I agree with.

Re: FAU Faculty Oppose Stadium Renaming Too

should have clarified. lets keep the GeoGroups money and naming rights. But issue the challenge to the faculty and the protestors.  I guarrente that they will not get as far as Pat Chun did.

It's not FAU's fault for this. I mean, every single year the profile of EVERY single state school goes up. Is that because the students in the state are so much smarter or is is that GPAs and test scores get ridiculously inflated?

FAU does what it has to stay competitive. We do a decent job of attracting high profile students, it's just that not EVERY one of our students is a UF caliber student.
