FAU GEAR

Why would we want a team store in the mall anyway? We should have one right next to the stadium, this way there's no overhead and they don't have to charge mall prices.
actually the fau gear that is sold in the mall is about the same price as the store in the breezeway i was just thinking a store in the mall would show the generally public of how much fau is growing.

Re: FAU GEAR

I think it would be best served next to the stadium on campus or maybe in a strip mall type of place just off campus. I've been up to Syracuse where everyone supports athletics there and there's no actual Syracuse team store in the mall.

My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

i know boca isn't a college town but as this school grow i think boca will just have to kinda accept some changes if they like it or not

Boca Raton will not be a full-blown college town in the sense that the entire town is dedicated to the university. It's past that stage in development.

However, over the next ten years I think you're going to see more and more focus from local businesses on appealing to college students.  And that would be helped if more FAU students stayed in Boca and threw up shops around campus catering to college students. That's really what drives places like Gainesville and why you see things like "Gator Laundromat" because someone graduated and opened a business to serve students.

That being said, the cost of keeping open a store dedicated to FAU athletics in the Boca mall would be an unreasonable business venture and although they have Champs/Lids/Foot Locker/etc it just wouldn't fit in as well. HOWEVER, they could easily put in an island booth in the concourse (you know, the little stalls in the middle of the walkway that sell perfume, RC helicopters, etc) and that would do well once the stadium is up on-campus.

Re: FAU GEAR

Ya, I think that a little kiosk would do pretty well..maybe not now, but in a few years it'd be a great place. There is a place in the Oaks Mall in G-ville that is just for Gators stuff and I saw that they sell shirts each opponent. I remember seeing one about "Gators feast on Owls" or something like that. It'd be cool if we had something like that, sort of like we had for the USF game, but have one for each game and charge like $5.

i think kiosk would do very well now other than the store in the breezeway there is no real place to get fau gear like discussed earlier in this topic the students working at lids said they are having trouble keeping some of the fau stuff in stock… and who would decides if a kiosk goes up someone should bring it up to the school it could just be an extention of the store on campus all proceeds go to fau athletics.

Re: FAU GEAR

If we sold shirts for 5 dollars in boca i don't think you would be able to afford rent.  Why would we not want a store on campus in the new shopping area next to the stadium.  This would draw more people to campus and keep people spending their money on campus

we were talking about a kiosk it woulnt be that expensive and it could be just an extetion of the store on campus with all the money it makes going to the school

Re: FAU GEAR

How about a small FAU store in the University Commons shopping center? After all, it does have FAU's logo on the entrances.

Re: FAU GEAR

Well

Barnes and noble DOES sell FAU gear in it. However its kind of tucked in a front corner that isnt very visable.

Ive often wondered why FAU isnt more insistent that the business in that plaza do more to promote FAU Athletics and events.

That place is so damn busy youd at LEAST be getting the traffic to see the items. Hell, Ill bet residents FLOCK to bed bath and beyond for stuff. have a lil FAU section in there with Blankets/Throws/Cups and it would be a natural.

I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick @$$ and I'm out of bubble gum.

You'd think that Kiosk's aren't expensive but they are VERY expensive and come October they raise the rates of the kiosk's for the holidays. I say lets wait for the stadium to be built and then worry about it but why not have something in the innovation village.. isn't that what it's for, shops etc…..?
