FAU GEAR

How about a small FAU store in the University Commons shopping center? After all, it does have FAU's logo on the entrances.
Yeah, you'd think.
I heard what happened was that the state and city awarded FAU the land for married student housing. They then turned to a Boca developer and said, "Here's the land, pay us rent." I think it nets FAU ~$1 million per year in rent. So I think FAU would have to put pressure on the developer, who would then put pressure on the businesses. And as much as I want FAU stuff everywhere in Boca, I don't think it would work in the restaurants. The others would be fine. There should also be banners on the streetlights in there but apparently that's either too expensive or too much work for FAU staff to get together.
I just don't get the feeling from FAU administration that they give a s*** about FAU stuff in Boca off-campus.

Re: FAU GEAR
"Boca Raton has a strict development code, including the size and types of commercial buildings, building signs and advertisements which may be erected within the city limits. No car dealerships are allowed in the city limits, according to the city zoning code. Additionally, no billboards are permitted in the city. The only billboard was grandfathered in during recent annexation. Corporations such as McDonald's have subdued their Golden Arches due to the code. The unincorporated areas still contain restaurants with the classic arches, but the heights of the signs have been reduced."
My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!
