I had to decline after they extended it for me…..they thought my grass roots campaign on Facebook showed enough…..but i told them I respectfully declined

It seems like they're not satisfied with the current candidates… not good news.

Keep in mind everyone, it's very common for these lists to become quite populated at the last minute. Because this is public knowledge, a lot of very qualified candidates will not throw their hat into the ring until the final day, just to avoid the attention that it brings. Don't be too concerned right now.

i wanted a politician, like Brogan

a political background brings in money and name recognition. plenty of positions UNDER the president for the "Ph.D.'s" of the world and the academia backgrounds

USF president, Judy Genshaft, is a politician…. look what she has done for that school
UM president, Donna Shalala… former Secretary of HHS under Bill Clinton
Gonzaga president is a former president

and my favorite fun-fact (yes I am a history nerd), Woodrow Wilson, 28th president of the United States, was the president of princeton university at one point

i just like the angle and perspective politicians bring to the university. there are PLENTY of places for academics such as Dr.'s and professors and deans that can advise the president. but a president should a FUNDRAISER and a PEOPLE PERSON, not a Ph.D. nerd

Having a politician would be good as long as he/she had his/her doctorate. As much as it may not make a difference in the ability of the president, it looks good. Brogan lost some credibility not having a PHD and was working on it through Lynn University.
