FAU's Kenneth Jessell named new FIU chief financial officer

"Kenneth A. Jessell has been named senior vice president and chief financial officer at Florida International University, FIU President Modesto A. Maidique announced Thursday.

Jessell comes to FIU after more than 25 years at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, where he most recently served as senior vice president for financial affairs."

It's not that surprising. It was a better job, a better title and undoubtedly more pay. The only one who seems to have a "dream job" at FAU is Frank Brogan.

And Howard Schnellenberger, I suppose.

KJ is going to be truly missed. His 26 years of service at FAU is unusual - in fact, I don't know many people who have been at their job for 26 years, let alone at one institution in higher education.

He has done a lot for FAU and has had the chance to watch buildings go up around him - literally - for over a quarter-century.
