May have asked this before, but doesn't the Fraternity/Sorority itself have to come up with a share of the funds for the property, construction, and maintenance??
When I was in school and we were promised Fraternity Housing 10 years ago lol we were told the chapter would put up half and we had to put up half
My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

Wasn't that we didn't live up to our end. There were no houses for us to live up to our end. They would promise us Fraternity houses at every IFC (Inter Fraternity Council) meeting and every year it was the same thing until they finally realized it's not happening

It depends on the model the university goes with, but what FAU is looking at now is something along the lines of building it themselves and having full control over them but leasing or renting them to the greek organizations. It provides a low barrier cost for the fraternities/sororites which helps.
If a greek org were able to come up with "half" of the cost of a greek house, they'd have ALOT of money in hand, and wouldn't need the university's help to build something, they could do it on their own. But in the infancy of many of the Greek orgs on campus, even coming up with $25 grand in good faith is tough…that's a lot of car washes! ;D

I wonder if a private company like Crocker would be interested in building and managing our Greek Row?
Greek housing seems like eons away. I'll believe it when I see it (which will probably be by my mid 30's.. :…lol)
They said Greek Housing was only five years away when I graduated… in 1987.. good luck with that

is that place still a dump?? it used to be Catalina Apartments…then they changed the name to make it sound more prestigious…
still Catalina to me! lol
Ah Catalina…lived there when I was a student at FAU. And yes, that place was a dump and I understand it got a lot worse. But it served its purpose so I can't complaint too much!
