fraternity housing?

I was in a fraternity at FAU and had a blast as well.  FAU is what you make of it…I couldn't have had a better time.

absolutely! I know a lot of people who live in Florida and went to FAU and talk about how much they don't like it. I came from NY and I loved my time at FAU. The dorm I lived in was a giant asbestos filled pile of junk (Modoc) but I loved every minute of it. Living on campus was a lot of fun, you meet so many people

My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

Is Modoc Hall what we called dorm 6? We never used the dorm name when I was there. Only the number. Except one dorm. Someone kept changing the name up over the door. For a while it was Annie Hall, then Tom T Hall then something else. We did come up with our own name for dorm 6.  The movie Animal House was just released. We were so inspired we called dorm 6 "animal house" since that is where all the party animals lived during that little era. Living at FAU was fun. The biggest difference and I mean BIG difference it was legal to drink alcohol at 18 in those days. If you threw a party on campus, anyone could attend and drink (without fear of getting in trouble for serving minors).

not sure if modoc was dorm 6 or 7. It's been a while. When I was there they all had names but on the signs above the entrance it used to say the number and then the name

I think there will be a renewed "push" for the Greek Housing once the stadium is up and the rest of that Innovation Village stuff (i.e. the dorms) are in place. Just because that will be the last thing we need on-campus to be traditional. Plus Dr.Brown (I believe it was Dr.Brown) just commissioned an official report from a Greek Life consultant and from what I understand, his report to the administration was basically like, "Yes, you really need to build it."

Interestingly enough, UCF's Greek Housing project is holding us back. In my conversations with various people about Greek housing at FAU, they always bring up this or that problem they had at UCF.

Consider: http://www.wesh.com/news/10276102/detail.html

You can see that the concern is not only about FAU getting the houses but retaining them if people don't take care of them or disband or something.

Hopefully we can iron this all out soon. How it will work out in terms of clauses with Boca, I don't know. I think their main concern is the Greeks drinking and driving but honestly I don't think Greek housing will make that problem any worse… as soon as you had residential students, you have the potential for drunk driving problems. Furthermore, the Greek houses would be on the campus, not visible on Glades, so if Greeks want to pass out on the grass with beer bottles strewn everywhere, it's not going to be seen by rich people in the city.

may i ask who were you with

Sig Ep (Sigma Phi Epsilon).  However, I strongly recommend that you go and meet every fraternity during rush week and see what orgaization you feel would be the best fit for you.

Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.
