I hear they're changing the name to ObamaU so good thinking. It's obvious FAU has a political agenda so better to stay away and not support your school.

Sorry, I must be confused. I thought Mr. Obama's agenda was political therefore it can be concluded Obama U had a politcal agenda of it's own by hosting the event.

You can't be serious. They had an opportunity to host the top-ranked official in the entire country and get tons of free publicity as a result of it. That was their agenda.

Even if the entire FAU Board of Trustees had been diehard conservative Republicans, they would have been incredibly stupid to turn this opportunity down.

Furthermore, the media reported that "Saunders said she would welcome the Republican nominee for president as well, saying it's a great experience for students and employees, regardless of their political leanings. Gov. Mitt Romney was on campus in 2008 when FAU hosted a Republican presidential debate."

Way to go Owl2Doc, great post and 100% agree. It is not about his politics it is about NATIONAL recognition for FAU!

Few years ago we had a republican debate on campus. Like Owl2Doc said, nothing to do with politics or your beliefs, but it's about getting the FAU name out there. Every news station in the world will have video of the POTUS speaking at Florida Atlantic University.

Just like when the Republicans were here all the media outlets were reporting live from campus. It makes us look great and definitely helps to spread the word. Think about some of these recruits we have, watching TV with their parents and they hear the President spoke at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton this afternoon. I don't know about you, but I'd be like hell yeah!! That's my school!

I hate to be the bad guy but the last person I want associated with my alma mater is this President. I won't be making donations anytime soon as I’m sure his constituencies can pick-up my slack.

FAU played a game against Dickie Nutt and Longwood university in basketball at Lynn the night of the republican debates….we went to the basketball game instead.
