Yup, FAU is working hard to ease the situation and has issued an apology over the exercise.

This incident could cause a surge of applications from atheists. Not saying that is a good thing since I am a believer but you never know.

It's ridiculous that this has gotten to the point that Dr. Brown had to make a video apologizing to these people.

His lawyer was on the local news this morning condemning FAU…he was a lawyer for Liberty Univeristy Trust or something, which isn't shocking, I presume they have a legal team waiting for opportunities to jump on situations like this.

Dr. Brown was apologizing to those the exercise may have offended, which was the right thing to do. He did not apologize for actions taken against the student because no actions had been taken. The student was simply asked not to return to class until the issue could be resolved, which also was the right thing to do. The media ran with a one sided story (as usual). The media is making their decision not to punish the student (who probably did react in a threatening way) look like an admission of guilt when he was never "formally" suspended in the first place. A part of the media attention is a result of other recent incidents at FAU.

The governor should have stayed out of this or at least gotten a statement from FAU before publicly making a statement. Also, Dr. Brown should not have to apologize for something he has not control over. I can understand him addressing the fact that no one was suspended, but at the very least the Provost should have been in that video or Dr. Saunders.

Pastor not accepting FAU's apology??? Really!!! What a contradiction…because I'm sure that pastor has taught about forgiveness on more than one occassion!!! The University has apologized and agreed not to do the excersise again and the student is not being punished. What more do you want?
