New Senior Class Gift - Homecoming 2011?

Anybody have any current information on this?

Florida Atlantic University Foundation, Inc.

As you may remember, a couple of years ago FAU led a successful Senior Class Gift campaign and built Traditions Plaza in front of the bookstore. After that, the SCG Campaign tried to get a four-sided obelisk going that would commemorate the most important events for years 2008-2011. For my informal conversation with people, that project basically fell apart and a new committee decided to change the project to this:

"Four graduating classes 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 are joining together with the Student Government Association to designate their senior class gift toward a special project on the Boca Raton campus to honor FAU's 50th anniversary…. The project includes the creation of a bronze, life-size statue of our new and improved mascot, Owlsley. The statue will be placed between our recreation and alumni centers, and will be dedicated in fall 2011."

Is this still going to happen, anyone know? Because I'd think they'd have to start working on it soon if it was. Homecoming's in two months.

Re: New Senior Class Gift - Homecoming 2011?

Let's build a life -sized statue of a mascot that has changed 3 times in the last 5 years!?

Plus their going to put it across Lee Street from the stadium in the little patch of grass in front of The Rec instead of the new plaza in front of the stadium.

Well it is new but I think really good - a keeper IMHO. Put it there and save the stadium plaza for the statue of Coach S!
