When picking a President the board needs to take into consideration the statement made last week by the President at Georgia Tech:

"Athletics is the lens through which people all around the country and the world see the University" - Georgia Tech President Peterson

Considering the fact that until I was 18 I thought Georgetown was an all black University due to its basketball team, I would say his statement is accurate.

that is true. a lot of schools rely on their athletic programs to bring in possible sponsors. I mentioned earlier that "we need a person from outside south florida, or even the state. someone who can bring in outside national companies who are willing to put money for grants and research and such. Someone who can work with the city of Boca Raton to expand the universities presence but is willing to stick to their guns and not back down to people."

When the Presidential Selection Committee met to choose Saunders, they made it clear to her that the university is (and will continue to be) heavily invested in Athletics. As we all know, the football stadium is an eight figure debt that cannot be ignored, so I'm confident that "support for Athletics" will be on the short-list of qualities needed in the next FAU President.

While it's certainly possible that the next President could say s/he will support Athletics and then only turn up to the minimal number of events, I don't think it's likely.

And the headlines continue. I wanted her out, but I don't disagree with the way (with respect), she was treated when she resigned, specifically by offering her another position:

No, he's saying the selection committee won't pick someone that isn't as supportive as Saunders was, we can't afford not to do it.

She was never right for the job.

Next president needs a lot more business acumen.  Also needs to demonstrate he/she can handle tenuous situations instead of pretending they'll go away if ignored.
