I wasn't offended at all with the article, I'm just annoyed and tired of the lame ass topics Miller prints about FAU.

I'm curious, what other topics has Miller written on about FAU. This is the first story from her that I have read, is she really that bad? or is it just some peoples opinions of her? Links???

BTW, I thought the article was overall good. Although the last part on the girls car did make it seem as if there were vigilante Fowl Owl members running around.

How is she putting a "spin" on this article? The fact that she mentioned the sticker-peeling incident? That's what is called "reporting." I'll stick by my initial comments, don't be so "darn" sensitive. Is that better?

I didn't have a problem with this article. Props to Smitty for creating a group like this to get more pride in our school

My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

My main question about the article concerns its timing. I heard about this group more than a year ago!

Where has the Post been?

Now, it deserves front page treatment?

As for the mention of that sticker peeling, huh? The Owl character was cut from the Rice decal. Maybe an FAU student liked it and wanted it for him/herself. It was wrong to do, but probably more of a theft than a spirit-inspired vandalism.

Hey all. I posted that story last night. It differs from the story that is currently online. I guess they added more to the piece or something.

So here is the link to the one that is currently online. This story interviews more people and goes more in depth, in my opinion.

The online version is MUCH more positive, notes that the vandalism MAY NOT be the work of Fowl Owls and posts several pro-Fowl Owl comments. Even the title "At FAU, be true to your school or face the consequences" is awesome. I wonder if that's the title in the actual newspaper article (or if this is online only). I'm going to stop by the Breezeway and check it out later.

Just wanted to let you guys know, especially those that are alumni or live far away now… this problem of people wearing other school's shirts is NOWHERE near as bad as it used to be. FAU apparel, from what I can see, is very popular. I was walking to Arts and Letters from the SO parking lot today and saw 6 FAU hats, 3 FAU shirts, one pair of sweat pants with "OWLS" down the leg (you have to love the girls of FAU)  and that was just in that short walk. If you go to the bookstore you see more variety seemingly every week so we should see this continued.

This should make you guys happy… there are talks within SGA to provide blue spirit shirts (like "BEAT FIU") for every home football game (UAB, Troy, ULL, UNT) next year. Have to look at the cost but it shouldn't be more than $10,000 and we can write a bill for that… hopefully the new SGA Governor + President will be amenable to the idea. Students love the shirts (they came by SGA in droves for the USF and, more recently, the FIU shirts) plus we can make every home game into being a BIG DEAL (because a lot of students are only interested if it's a BIG DEAL) by doing the shirts, chalking the sidewalks, making homemade banners for the Breezeway, having OwlRadio announce it as they play music in the Breezeway (they sit in the Breezeway by the cafe with a couple of tables, DJs, and speakers and give a party-sorta atmosphere to the Breezeway now)

We just need creative names for the front of the shirts… getting kind of sick of "BEAT ______"… the back should probably say "GO OWLS". We'd want something that you'd want to wear AFTER the game as well because when you wear your shirts outside of FAU, that advertises FAU and makes the school seem to be a bigger, more popular places. Two birds with one stone, you know?

Good point OwlCountry.

In addition, I had another idea for FAU football games. I was on the campus of Rutgers University this past weekend. To say the least, the school spirit at that school has gone THROUGH THE ROOF. A lot of residents in the dorms have a red R as a window sticker (the Rutgers lettermark).

I think that FAU should give something like this out to stick on the windows of residents that attend the games. Right now, residents can't stick ANYTHING on the windows of dorms (housing rules)

Maybe athletics, SG and housing can all come together and work on this. Now, you'll be able to see by looking at the dorms who has gone to a football game and who hasn't. (in theory at least)

What's terrible about this Beat ___ idea is this: If we lose, then what? Once the game is over the shirts are pointless and dated.

SGA should focus on something that will get a lot of use.

Correct.
You could argue that people still wear their BURY THE BURROW IN RED shirts (from the first go-around) but I agree with you that we need to move forward and develop shirts that last.

SG should give away T-shirts that has the schedules on the back. It's just one more way that students see the football schedule.

Last year, the prOWLers, SAA and SAB gave out schedule magnets and schedule cups. They were a huge hit.
