Personally I am not a big fan. I believe they get too much credit and honestly don't do very much to increase spirit. They also don't seem to want to expand the group into what it should be a student spirit group, but rather just a group of friends (which is why I never decided to join) under the guise of being the most spirited fans. Which don't even get me started there. I'm putting out my opinion and it is just that, now I am sure I will be taking a bunch of flak for it.
amen… no flak here…
i go further… they are worthless

Trust me you won't get nearly as much s**t for it as me. I'm Public Enemy # 1 of the PrOWLers they all hate me lol. You're entitled to your opinions. A friend of mine has gone up to head prOWLer Bobby and has asked him in a nice way why they were so quiet? His response "I really don't care what you think" That's nice, good talking to you lol.
My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

While they have more money now (thanks to student gov)…..i hate to say it but I'm sorry this is the only prowlers you know……..the kids on the field seem to be solid, but they are a tight nit group of friends.

Re: Prowlers
I'm glad people are taking notice at what the prOWLers do at games. They do run the flags, do push-ups, etc. They are not Gods. Yes, the university embraces them.
What you see at the games is what they can do as allowed by the NCAA. What you don't see is that they attend EVERY radio show on Monday evenings. What you don't see is that they help organize pep rallies with athletics.
Season ticket holders - remember last year when you got season tickets? The prOWLers sat in the office for 72 hours and stuffed tickets. I was one of them. A whole weekend with no shower and barely brushing my teeth. that was an interesting time.
The prOWLers also help other student organizations grow.
At summer orientation we taught incoming freshmen the fight song.
We helped students move into the dorms.
I'll talk about it more when I get off of work. But before you start critizing, especially you FAUOwl09 -make sure you know what you are talking about. What you see is what the prOWLers do on the field. Not many people see what they do off the field.
And yes, they travel to away games. And yes, they do it with funding from student government. But that's still a sacrifice away from their jobs and school work they make.
If anyone thinks another spirit group will do better- I want to see you do it. Anyone can drink beer and cheer. But as official representatives of the university, we are restricted to what we can do.
And remember a lot of the people you are criticizing are freshmen. Give them constructive criticism, not saying they suck.
Thanks
