I hate when we get politcal on here because for me this is suppose to be an escape from everyday B.S.; that being said, why is this sad?  The fact of the matter, the people who would be carrying the concealed weapons (legally I might add); aren't the ones creating all of this havoc we have had over the last year or so…Not saying it is a good idea to have people carrying legals concealed weapson at school…but they aren't the problem with guns.  Mental illness…followed by the military grade assault rifles is what is the root of these problems.  Don't confuse the second amendment and the right to bare arms with mental illness and assault rifles.  Those are two difference arguments.

Re: Students For Concealed Carry

you're right, this isn't a board for political views. I would much rather bash Jarvis then argue about guns. Just not a fan of guns period. I think the whole thing is a mess. I've never looked at the statistics and have no facts to back it up. Just do not like guns and feel like they lead to problems. that's all.

Re: Students For Concealed Carry

I am going to make my point as clearly as possible and have no final say on the matter. I own a gun, and support the second amendment, but I would not like to see this happen at FAU, because as young college students go, what if alcohol and arguments lead to the death of a student by a fire arm on campus or somebody showing off their gun and it accidentally goes off and kills somebody. I served in the military and know what firearms can do to somebody. That is why I support gun free zones such as schools, churches and hospitals unless you are a member of law enforcement.

Re: Students For Concealed Carry

You're right USMC and at least you have had the proper training on how to handle a gun. I don't have an issue with guns and I don't have an issue with people supporting what they believe in. Hopefully common sense will prevail and none of these guns are allowed to have bullets in them. I think a point can be proven about how they feel and what they think is right without any ammunition actually being loaded into the guns.

Which goes back to the reason for extensive background checks and mental examinations on concealed permit owners. I would deff join this club if I wasn't graduating this semester. Speaking of graduating, would FAU allow me to make donations to the athletic department once I graduate? I mean it won't be much (maybe $20 a month since I'll be working a part time time job to chill out for a year before I start law school). But would they really turn down a free $20 a month?
