Students For Concealed Carry

Speaking of graduating, would FAU allow me to make donations to the athletic department once I graduate? I mean it won't be much (maybe $20 a month since I'll be working a part time time job to chill out for a year before I start law school). But would they really turn down a free $20 a month?

I am sure they will be more than happy to get your $20/month…if every one would do that we would have a nice little cash flow going.  I have made $1,000 donations to athletics in the past with them billing my credit card $100/m for 10 months.

sad day. nothing but trouble.

I agree, EASY to see some pissed off student blow away the Prof. or even the whole class - NO WAY THIS SHOULD happen - this is NOT the wild west!

Re: Students For Concealed Carry

Like I said I dont have an issue with them exercising their right to protest something they don't believe in. I am sure there is something that both the school and the students can come to an agreement on. No bullets or give them water guns lol. I think we all agree this is not a good idea.

It may not even be the students who are at fault, if the police are on hand and an officer thinks a student is pointing a loaded gun at them, and accidentally shoots them, all hell will break loose.

My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

Re: Students For Concealed Carry

Horrible idea IMO. I enjoy solid grouping at the range and plan to own a pistols and rifles. I'm am NOT anti-gun. I know I wouldn't feel right carrying a weapon on a school campus. Legal or not. If there's a need for individual protection at a public university than the school is doing something VERY wrong. I know the world is far from perfect or safe but this is crossing the line. That said, I also acknowledge that the rules really only affect those who follow them aka responsible owners.

Re: Students For Concealed Carry

Here's what I don't understand, all of you anti-CC people have no issue giving Cops (and trust me I'm very pro-Law Enforcement) guns to walk around campus no questions asked and why?  Are cops not capable of snapping themselves?  Just look at our very own FAU Police officer who murdered that escort in Boynton like a year and half ago?  I'm glad I live in a state that has the highest population of CC in the country.  Gun free zones like gun control simply don't work.

Re: Students For Concealed Carry

I'm sure all the students killed in VTech were happy to know that there was no one in their classrooms that could have saved them.  Same goes for the kids at Kent State when the NATIONAL GUARD turned their weapons on their own citizens (this is the exact reason the Second Amendment was instituted.)  Shall I go on and list the other schools, where guns are banned from being carried, where students could not defend one another and were slaughtered?

There are already strict restrictions for someone to get a CWP in the State of Florida, judging by many of the replies in this thread, people need to educate themselves on these requirements.

4 people died at Kent State…if students would have drawn weapons, hundreds would have been killed.  You are talking about untrained 18 - 22 year olds with concealed handguns vs. the national guard.

Reality.

That is your interpretation of reality.  Explain how "hundreds" would have died??  They would have just started shooting each other, that makes no sense.  The situation probably would have never occured in the first place.

Also if you have a concealed there is a level of training so that is incorrect, I believe the level of training should be increased but there is training to obtain the permit.

Re: Students For Concealed Carry

I dont really care to debate this, but if you really think a bunch of 18 year old kids pulling out hand guns to fire at "a group of 77 National Guard troops from A Company and Troop G, with bayonets fixed on their M1 Garand rifles" from a crowd of protesters wouldnt have caused more casualties than the four that happened…then we definetly have a differnce of opinion and in my opinion reality.

Bringing up a few tragedies over the last 50 years is great…thankfully concealled weapons on college campuses haven't been permitted or I'd have hundreds of examples of why that is a bad idea against the 2 provided here.
