We're Got a Lot to Fix
I knew that fraternities were commonly being displaced but it seemed that the majority were keeping it together. Removing one and putting in another seemed to be working.
Sororities don't seem to have this problem but we can't only allow sorority houses because I'm sure that'll blow up as gender discrimination in the press.
Perhaps an interesting solution would be to build a house that can be "rented" like rooms in the Student Union. You reserve it for a certain date, you bring in your organization specific things to decorate, have your event, then clean up and clear out afterwards. The university will own it plus damage done (and extra cleaning services, if necessary) will be charged to the organization. Overall this would allow for a physical presence on campus, frees the individual members from having to pay dues to LIVE in the house, any disruptive organizations can be banned from renting the property, and on tours we can talk about the Greeks having a physical presence on campus.
Is that not a win-win?
