The thing is, FAU has started out on the defensive side on everything but the GEO Group thing. FAU was caught completely off guard with the Sandy Hook fiasco and the Jesus thing was blown unbelievably out of proportion and people began attacking FAU without knowing the facts. The community/press were already CONVINCED that FAU suspended the kid of not stepping on the piece of paper. There was no way we could change their minds. And now this new incident isn't really the fault of FAU either. FAU came released a statement very quickly that they did not support or believe the ideas that Tracy was bringing up. And what does FAU do now? They can't fire him for using free speech right? That'd be an even BIGGER fiasco.

I'm not saying Saunders is perfect but I think the majority of the criticism - aside from Geo Group - is unfair and misguided by the media.

I think over the summer, MJ Saunders and the board of Trustees are going to look back and have a review of the year since Tracey made the comments about Sandy Hook. Saunders probably realizes some incidents were handled badly, while others they felt they did the right thing. She knows she will be under a microscope at least till the end of the year. I also think they are hoping with the summer and the reduce number of students on the campus, the bad press will fade from the public eye. As far as Tracey goes, AAUP is backing him and wrote a letter to President Saunders to remove the letter of reprimand from his record, but that is not going to happen, but he wont be fired.

Oh no!  Not our old, rusty, ugly sculptures!  Seriously, those things should have been taken down years ago.

This line in the submission bothers me…

"It is unfortunate and unfair that one or two faculty members and their actions make the news, while hundreds of great faculty members go unheralded."

It makes it sound as if the Professors "actions" were wrong…I dont think they were in any way.

And the ride keeps continuing. Apprantley for police reports, you need to take out a small loan.

Although this is "bad" press, it's contained locally. Yes, the Huffington Post picked up (weirdly enough) but this really won't be a problem of the magnitude of the other controversies. It's the national controversies that we more have to worry about.

That's mainly driven by the old up editor who was ousted and now he's got an axe to grind.

I see it as jerk response to a jerk request. EVERY police report from the last X number of years is ridiculous but if you want it, you'll pay a ridiculous price.
