The Lady Owls clinched a spot in the SBC Tournament today while splitting a double header with Middle Tennessee.

In game one, FAU fell behind 5-0 after two innings and were unable to catch up, eventually losing 5-3.  Carrie Ann Potter threw her 10th complete game of the season in the loss.

In the second, Becky Brandies hit a solo homerun in the top of the fourth inning that pushed the Owls’ lead to 3-1. She followed with a three-run shot in the fifth to help put the game out of reach, as FAU won 6-3.

MTSU had loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh inning, but a double play and fly out to center ended the inning with only one run scoring.

The series will conclude tommorow at 1:00PM EST.
