Softball: Owls Edged By Louisiana-Lafayette 1-0
Senior pitcher Amber Barton threw a complete game five-hitter, but took a tough luck loss as the Florida Atlantic softball team lost to Louisiana-Lafayette 1-0 on Wednesday.
UL loaded the bases in the bottom of the first, but a forceout at the plate and a strikeout ended the inning with no runs scoring. FAU had runners reach base in both the second and third innings, but double plays erased the runners on both occasions.
The only run came in the bottom of the third inning when Christi Orgeron homered to left. The Owls had runners on first and second with two outs in the sixth, but Rose Gressley popped to short to retire the side. Joshlyn Martinez singled with one out in the seventh, but a fielder’s choice and grounder ended the game.
The Owls travel to Monroe, LA to face ULM in a three game series, beginning Friday at 6 p.m. Live stats of the series will be available at fausports.com.
