Softball: Owls Fall to Ragin’ Cajuns 1-0 on Day Two of SBC Tourney
Team needs two wins on Friday to stay alive
Florida Atlantic lost to Louisiana-Lafayette 1-0 on Thursday night on day two of the 2010 Sun Belt Conference softball tournament.
The Owls struggled with UL pitcher Donna Bourgeois, who struck out 12, and managed only two walks on the night.
FAU's Amber Barton tossed a scoreless game until the sixth when UL's Lana Bowers walked with two outs, advanced on a wild pitch, and then scored on a Ashley Ray bleeder that just crept through the FAU infield.
Ambar Jones led off the seventh inning for FAU with a walk and eventually advanced to third after a bunt from Kerri Croney and groundout by Jessica Myers.
That brought Rose Gressley to the plate with the tying run on, but she grounded to third to end the game.
FAU will next face North Texas on Friday at 1:30 eastern, with the winner advancing to take on Troy at 6:30 eastern. The Owls must win both to remain alive.
