Where are they now? Christina Sutcliffe

Christina Sutcliffe is happy teaching pitchers to be as successful as she was.

The former Boone Grove and Florida Atlantic ace is an assistant coach at Miami (Ohio), working with pitchers and catchers. Last year, the RedHawks picked up the program's first-ever NCAA tournament win when they beat Cleveland State before losing to Notre Dame.

"We are an up-and-coming program," Sutcliffe said. "The school has invested in upgrading our facilities and we are in a good location being in Ohio. We are five hours from Tennessee and five hours from Northwestern.

"I am happy to be a part of this program."

Sutcliffe played for the legendary Joan Joyce at Florida Atlantic from 1997-2001 and is still in the top 10 in several pitching categories. She was also a head coach at Boynton Beach (Fla.) High School in 2001 and was also the head coach at Rhode Island from 2003-05. Sutcliffe said she learned quite a bit from Joyce, who was inducted into the National Softball Hall of Fame in 1983 and the International Softball Federation Hall of Fame in 1999.
