FAU Cross Country's Ryan Davis Earns SBC Male Sporting Behavior Award

FAU Cross Country's Ryan Davis Earns SBC Male Sporting Behavior Award

Florida Atlantic Head Track and Field Coach Alex Smolka recently said of Mr. Ryan Davis that, “Ryan is always courteous towards his competitors and that ‘winning by any means necessary’ isn’t winning at all.  He cares more about the success of his teammates than his own.”

In athletic competition Mr. Davis has been awarded the Florida Atlantic Cross Country MVP and hardest worker on separate occasions.  He has also finished as the top FAU runner at the Sun Belt Men’s Cross Country Championship.

Away from athletics, Mr. Davis maintains a 3.89 GPA as a biology major and has been listed on both the President’s List and Dean’s List on multiple occasions.  Additionally, Mr. Davis has become a chemistry teaching assistant at FAU in which he teaches laboratory portions of several classes each week.

Mr. Davis has also pledged well over one hundred hours of volunteer service during his time at FAU.  Among the programs he has assisted are Habitat for Humanity, the FAU Pine Jog Environmental Center and the Cooperative Feeding Program.

Mr. Davis has also spent time shadowing a variety of doctors in South Florida.  He has spent extensive time observing anesthesiology and plastic surgery while also spending multiple occasions with dermatologists, neurologists, orthopedists, cardiac surgeons and endocrinologists.
