Wow. My friend went to join the Sailing Team and got the same cold shoulder.

I dunno. One of the past SGA Controllers told me that some people form clubs just to fund their own recreation. They don't answer emails or calls from their advisor. They don't advertise and they don't book rooms in the Student Union. They're "secret" clubs and use the money to buy themselves pizza, etc.

Maybe the ice hockey team is like that too. Although they have a pretty serious, semi-permanent banner up in the Student Union over the north doors now…

I think SG is getting better about controlling those types of clubs that are "secret."

Although it's hard for something like the ice hockey team… who wants to compete against other schools - thus one can safely assume they would want to play and travel with the best players they can.

But according to state law, A&S funded clubs (like ice hockey), need to be open to everyone.

They played at gold Coast Arena in Pompano.

One of the things about Management is the ability to see the good in others and place it where it needs to be to move the vision (team or elsewise) forward…

If you are a talented player, then he is not mature enough to lead this team.

Well, if this is a private secret club; they should not be using FAU's marks. First of all they are representing the school out there and whatever problem they get into; FAU would get blamed for it.

I'm sure things are a lot more transparent than they use to be.

Yeah, my situation took place in the mid 90's, so I am sure it has changed now, with all new people.

They play in the ACHA Division 3 with USF, FGCU, FIT, UF, Embry-Riddle, UCF, and FSU and tons of northern schools. They currently sit at 8-10. Unfortunately FGCU and UCF are some of the top teams in the country as UCF finished 3rd in the nation last year.

Thanks Smitty.  Looks like they are playing a tournament this weekend over here in Ellenton, which is about 10 minutes from me!  Looks Like I get to watch "Owls on Ice" this weekend.   If anyone else is local and wants to go PM me.
