FAU's Claire Emslie Named SBC Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Emslie, a native of Penicuik, Midlothian, Scotland, tallied the first hat trick in seven seasons for the Owls as she scored the game-winning goal with just over two minutes left in regulation. The goal helped lift FAU past UAB 4-3.
The freshman tallied a pair of goals in the first half but saved her best for last. Emslie went into the six-yard box in anticipating a right-cross from junior forward Brittney Nash. Emslie then headed the ball to the lower right corner of the net to give the Owls the lead. She scored on a successful penalty kick in the 21st minute and a shot from 10 yards out in the 41st minute.
The midfielder leads the Owls with four goals on the season. Her six points against UAB mark the second-most by a SBC player this season, as FIU’s Chelsea Leiva tallied seven against Idaho on Sept. 9. Emslie ranks second in the league in shots per game (3.43), third in points per game (1.43), goals (4) and goals per game (0.57), and seventh in shots (23).
