FAU Volleyball Sweeps Day One at Stetson Invitational

Anne Vaughan had 26 kills on the day as the FAU volleyball team won both of its matches on Friday at the Stetson Invitational.

The Owls swept Wofford in three sets (25-18, 25-21, 25-8) in their first match. FAU trailed 5-7 before going on a 13-5 run. Vaughan had two kills and Kristyna Dzmuranova had two service aces during the scoring spree. A Georgia Robinson kill gave the Owls a 25-18 win.

In the second set, neither team was able to maintain control. Wofford had pulled to within one at 16-15 when FAU scored nine of the next 15 points to close out the set and take a 2-0 lead.

The Owls took control early in the third set, cruising to an easy 25-8 win to take the match.

Dzmuranova led all players with 11 kills in match play.

In the nightcap match, FAU rallied from down six points to tie the first set at 23, but Stetson took the next two points in a 25-23 win. The second set was tied at 13 when FAU took five of the next six points en route to an 18-14 lead. Stetson pulled to within one point on multiple occasions, but could never over take the Owls as FAU won 25-20.

The two teams were tied at seven in the third set when FAU went on a 13-3 run to secure a 25-15 victory.

The Owls raced out to a fast lead in the fourth set and never looked back, clinching the victory with a 25-15 fourth set win.
