Men's Soccer: FAU Drops 1-0 Decision to Hartwick
The Florida Atlantic men’s soccer team fell 1-0 to Hartwick on Saturday in the Owls’ conference road opener.
The Hawks (7-2-2, 3-0-0) got on the board early in the second half when Brian Gordon beat FAU goalkeeper Ciro Martinez off a rebound deflection in the 48th minute to put Hartwick on top 1-0. Martinez tallied four saves in net for FAU but fell to 1-2-0 in his first three career starts.
FAU was paced on offense by Rocco Pecora and Jordan Kelly who tallied two shots each. The Owls were without their leading point-scorer Darnell King who was forced to sit out of the game due to a red card suspension.
For the Hawks in net, Jeremy Vuolo recorded the shutout and made six saves, with four of them coming in the second half.
Florida Atlantic’s next game will be on Wednesday night when they travel to Tampa to take on in-state rival South Florida. The Owls will return to FAU Soccer Field next Saturday and try to earn their first MAC victory against Western Michigan at 7 pm.
