Men's Soccer: Owls Tie with UCF

The FAU men’s soccer team tied Central Florida 0-0 on Wednesday night from FAU Soccer Stadium.  Despite the hard-fought effort by both squads, 120 minutes and two overtimes worth of soccer was not enough to determine a winner between the two in-state rivals.

The Owls (3-2-2) were led on offense by Jose Guerra, as the senior produced a team-high three shots.  Rocco Pecora and Karol Chorak also chipped in with two shots each.  Goalkeeper Jeremy Crumpton continued his strong play in net as the freshman recorded three saves and notched his fourth shutout of the season.

For UCF, Yaron Bacher and Nik Robson led the way on offense with three shots each.  Also for the Knights, freshman goalkeeper Shawn Doyle made two saves to preserve the shutout.

Central Florida controlled play for most of the first half, outshooting the Owls 7-4 and recording three corner kicks.  Things would even up in the second half as neither team was able to penetrate the back line of defense.  When the first overtime period began, a driving rain began to fall making it difficult to generate a consistent offensive attack for either squad.  The Owls outshot UCF in overtime 2-1.

Florida Atlantic will be back in action on Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. when they travel to Jacksonville to take on another in-state rival, North Florida.
