Well, if we wait for an interchange it will be another five years, at least.

But the ray of hope I see is in this like from the article:

These steps are being taken to meet the completion goal of fall 2010, the university said in a courtesy letter to the city last month.

"A courtesy letter."  In other words, "We're moving ahead.  Stop dragging your feet."

With any luck, the next courtesy letter will say something like "Just to let you know, we recently took delivery of a bunch of shovels and hardhats, the earthmovers are pulling up as we speak, and the mayor is cordially invited to either lead, follow or get out of the way."

FAU Boca has classes for approximately 20k students on the average weekday, not to mention faculty and staff. The Boca campus of PBCC, which gets zero attention for also causing Glades Road traffic, has another what, 10k people per day pouring in/out of there as well. That's 30k… on a weekday. Our stadium will hold 30k and will likely not fill up more than once per year until after the interchange is built (2012?).

That being said, didn't any of you wait in the loooooong line off of Commercial before the USF game? I did. My crew waited at least 10 minutes to get from the off-ramp to the first intersection turn signal. It very well could be that way on Glades come August 2010. However, FAU can get around that by telling people to use the I-95 Yamato Road exit -or- dodge I-95 altogether and get onto campus via Spanish River, 20th street or even the second, easternmost entrance on Glades Road.

Hmm.  Why doesnt that article and the city discuss all the new crap thats been developed on the west side of 95 on glades road where it sometimess takes you 15 minutes to get through 3 blocks.  Oh wait, FAU had nothing to do with that.

Spanish River was also expanded into to lanes. It would help with traffic somewhat. This highway interchange /offramp stuff has been talked about since I got there in 2002.

Rutgers University has a similar problem. Their's is a bit worse though. The campus that the football stadium is built on is kinda like FSU - the campus is built within a neighborhood. So were talking stop signs and traffic lights galore.

What RU did to help with traffic was set up different spots around the city (i.e. Mizner Park) where they bus people to and from the game.

That could take 1,000 cars or so off the road. Plus, a lot of people will be coming from Federal Highway - thus using the 20th street entrance.

Bussing people into campus is going to be a must if this thing ever expands to 65,000 and that fills up. I can't even imagine what traffic would be like for that. I mean, in Gainesville everybody realizes you can't drive to the game so everyone walks… I walked 20 minutes to get to the stadium from my friend's apartment complex.

Sound slike when I lived in Norman Oklahoma for three years from 2000 - 2003…the stadium for OU is right in the middle of the city…and its a relatively small city…talk about no way in or out…absolutely REDICULOUS…on game day, there was two roads in…TWO LANES each way that fed into ONE as you entered the campus (1/3 of a mile away with stop signs)…now i know this doesnt sound like a big deal…but consider the fact that the stadium holds 90k…and then picture a two mile road that leads to the highway completley at a stand still HOURS before the game…now also consider that the road is the "main drag" for the entire town…

Ok, i think you get the picture now…

We have a MUCH better scenario…Boca is just being unreasonable…we have four entrances to the campus…not two…and plenty of alternate routes to get in (Yamato, Palmetto Park) via backraods, etc as well…

Plus we are only talking as 30k stadium here…
